Link building.   

Many webmasters get confused with link building.

In order for a back link to have any value in Google, it must: Come from a page with relevant content and title tags. It, must link on a key phrase that is in the title of the page that the link points to and that page must have relevant visible content. The link must come from a similar themed site and where possible should come from a page that has pagerank of 1 or more. Most pages have a pagerank of some description but the higher the better. Be careful though if you're asked to do a reciprocal link, be sure the page you are linking to is not penalised in Google as this can be seen as a bad neighborhood and can get your site banned.
